Tea Party Invitation

Among my most cherished childhood memories were the birthday parties. My mom always threw great ones and they always revolved around a theme. Because my birthday is in October, many of my parties had a Halloween theme – with haunted houses, dry ice in the punch, bags filled with guts (spaghetti), eyeballs (grapes), and a tongue (cow’s tongue) for guests to touch, costume contests, spooky music, games, food, etc.

Other memorable themes from birthday parties past were a Dalmatian theme and a carnival theme for me, and a Fire Truck and a Star Wars theme for my brother.

Since then, I’ve always been a fan of the themed celebration. Even my wedding had an Italian theme.

For my daughter’s 2nd birthday, we had an Elmo theme, and for her 3rd birthday, a Dora theme. See previous post: http://www.mommy-living.blogspot.com/2012/06/dora-themed-birthday-party.html

The choices for children’s birthday party themes are endless. Naturally, what a child is into at the time often determines the theme.

Here are just a few ideas for children’s birthday party themes: Circus; Princesses; Tea Party; Alice in Wonderland; Ballerina; Zoo; Race Cars; Farm; Beach; Jungle; Tropical/Luau; Surf’s Up; Ocean/Under the Sea; Fiesta; and any popular character, movie, TV show, and so on.

I’ll be posting ideas for themes and motifs from time to time.

Please feel free to share your ideas as well.
